| Internships the polling company™, inc./ WomanTrend welcomes undergraduate and graduate students to take part in our rolling internship program. Research Interns will gain valuable experience in polling, consulting, public relations, marketing, and political analysis from one of the nation’s most innovative polling firms. Internships are available for our Washington, DC office only. About 30% of the work we do is for political clients, but we primarily conduct issues and market research for a myriad of corporate and public affairs clients. Interns will be directly involved with assisting staff members with the following responsibilities: - background research on prospective clients and issue areas
- preparation of meeting and speech notes for firm principals
- reading, clipping, and archiving print articles for WomanTrend
- assisting research associates and managers with the development of proposals, survey instruments, and moderator’s guides
- focus group participant recruitment and database management
- data analysis and interpretation
In terms of hands-on research and analysis, this internship is most certainly substantive, and participating students leave the polling company™, inc/ WomanTrend with solid research experience as well as excellent professional contacts. What We Are Looking For: • Interns must be able to take initiative and work well without constant supervision to gain the most from this position. They will have projects they are responsible for individually, as well as joint assignments with other interns. • Interns must be willing to pitch in and help with whatever needs to be done. No one here is above answering a telephone or clipping a newspaper, and everyone helps out in some way with all types of clients, whether political, non-profit, public affairs, or corporate. • Interns must be committed to the firm and to their work – we expect you to work the days and times you are scheduled to do so. • The best match for this internship would be someone interested in survey and/or market research, political analysis, public relations, marketing, or grassroots activism. We are not looking for a particular political identification or ideology, although prospective interns should be aware that we do work for numerous conservative candidates and groups. Superb writing and analytical skills are required, and some knowledge of statistics or polling is helpful, although not necessary. These positions are unpaid, but are a GREAT resume builder.
