Heritage Foundation Case Study

In 2005, The Heritage Foundation commissioned  the polling company™, inc. to undertake research programs to address its website, Heritage.org, and two separate publications, Issues 2004 and The 2005 Index of Economic Freedom.  The research consisted of both pure qualitative and quasi-quantitative methods with selected populations in the media, on Capitol Hill, and general users.

The two publications were studied utilizing online surveys and focus groups.  A total of two surveys and three online focus groups were conducted with users of the publication.  the polling company™, inc. managed all recruitment and confirmation of participants, drafting of moderator’s guide, moderation of groups, and final analysis.

In the fall of 2005, Heritage commissioned a Congressional Canvass of U.S. House and Senate staffers, incliding Legislative Directors, Communications Directors, and Chiefs of Staff.  The goal of the canvass was to assess which organizations and individuals were the "go-to" resources on the HIll and which groups wielded the most influence.

In 2006, Heritage again asked the polling company™, inc. to conduct qualitative research regarding some of its publications, including the 2007 Index of Economic Freedom and 2006 Policy Experts.  Online focus groups were the primary methodology employed and participants from all over the globe came together online for a discussion moderated by Kellyanne Conway regarding the various publications.
